Mark 12:42a  “Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites,”

We are such a rich nation.  Even when we struggle to make our money last till the end of the month, we are rich.  The widow from Mark was commended by Jesus because she gave everything she had to the treasury.  So many Christians clamor about having to give a tenth and try to justify whether they give it on the gross or on the “take home” amount!  Jesus wants to bless you every day.  Jesus wants to give you contentment.

The widow was content in her giving.  She gave her all!  That is New Testament giving.  She didn’t go home and sit down and die.  She depended on Jesus and others to care for her. We need to find that contentment of depending on Jesus and others.  We can be content because with God, there is always enough!  In John 1:16 he writes, “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.”  The gifts Jesus give us are not just for a few people of His choosing, it is for everyone!  There is always plenty.  We have to claim these Biblical truths and live by them.

There was a time in our families’ lives we had moved to a new city.  My husband was recovering from a stroke.  I was the only one who could bring in money so I opened up a gymnastics business in my hometown.  God blessed.  We had all of our needs met.  But our faith was put to the test when we discovered I was going to have to have a hysterectomy.  We had no insurance!  What would we do?  We prayed and God continued to bless us by allowing the doctor and hospital bill to be paid by an organization called Gold Cross in Alabama.  We praised God for meeting our need as when we got the rest of the bills from that operation, my business had grown to cover the expenses.

God owns everything.  Because His heart is so big, He gives us what we ask for in His will. John 14:14 gives us the promise!  “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”  In my book, A Christian Selfie, I give several stories that relate how Jesus has answered our prayers of need.  I believe he will answer your prayers too!  Do you believe?  Contented people trust God’s abundance!  Are you content?  If not, you first need to read God’s Holy Word.

We are given the promise that God’s Word will not return void.  That means that if you read and pray about your needs, God is faithful to meet those needs.  You may be without insurance and facing an operation.  Step out on faith and God will take care of you!  You may have a job, but you barely have enough money to buy milk at the end of the month.  Step out on faith and God will take care of you!  You need to join a loving church who will lift you up for your needs.  Come to the foot of the cross and ask Jesus to meet your needs.  You may have the need of salvation.  He will meet that if you ask Him.  You may have a physical need.  He will meet that if you ask Him.  You may have an emotional need.  He will meet that if you ask Him.  The key is asking and believing!  Don’t delay, ask today!
